Say you are making a pair of earrings and the design calls for Half Hard Wire....you go to your wire box and you have NO Half Hard Wire JUST Dead Soft in the gauge you need...NO WORRIES: You can work-harden dead soft wire by hammering it a few times with a hard plastic or rawhide mallot. If you don't have a plastic or rawhide mallot and don't care if you have a hammered look, you can use a ball pin hammer.
