I took time away from my stall selling soap on the Roanoke City Market yesterday to browse the Sidewalk Art show that was happening downtown at the same time. The Sidewalk Art Show is an annual event that pulls both local and regional artists, and unlike last year I was able to buy a few things this time around. I got a steal on one gorgeous painting of two horses nuzzling called "Good Buddies." It is a 30x40… Continue

I’ve always adored with Lewis Carroll’s “Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There”! So I was inspired for creation of this necklace by that book! I used pieces of vintage mirror, finest pure merino wool 18 mic, faux pearls, cotton & viscose thread, beautiful vintage button.…

From the first time I watched Anne of Green Gables to the time I first picked up the book I was completely hooked. I have read all of Lucy Maud Montgomery's books some more than twice. I would love to go to Prince Edward Island and see Green Gables. When I started this straw hat necklace I wasn't intending of making something Anne, but there it was on the jewelry table with the only thing missing being red braids! What a happy accident. Now I… Continue

It has been hard working without glasses! About a week ago, my old glasses snapped in my hands; I've been having to deal with temporary contact lenses. There are cool things about contacts, but not for this nearsighted person; I can't move my contacts when I need to do close up work, so I look like an idiot trying to string beads.
I did manage to make a few… Continue

I have been missing scrapbooking a lot I have had little time as spring starts Halloween mode for me big time. So I thought I would do one of my altered art books only with a modern theme instead of primitive. I came up with the idea after reading the series of Twilight books by Stephanie Meyer. I have to admit that I became hooked and after reading Twilight I sped through the last 3 in about a week. So I wanted to show my love for the books and the charecters that portrayed them.
I really… Continue

Today I was introduced to Steam Society Designs through ByHand - and in a jaw dropping way. This shop is amazing! The shop's tagline is "Wearable Hedonishm for the Unreasonably Well Dressed." And it is further touted as "the lair of hedonism-inducing fashion and accessories for your Steampunk, Burning Man, Tribal Belly Dancing, Fire Performing, Rockstar, Burlesque and Circus-esque… Continue
