About Me:
54 year old disabled science fiction writer, grandpa, ACEO artist, cat nut and nature lover especially in art and fiction. I have a page in "Create. Collect. Trade." the new ACEO book, and I'm a staff writer for ACEO magazine. I also do Small Format Art (SFA) and recently have begun a series of oil pastel and soft pastel paintings ranging from 4 x 6" up to maybe 9" x 12" -- huge for me since I got so used to trading card size paintings!

I also started a new website on oil pastels, see it listed as my website above (it has a gallery page with my art too). It's an information site with product reviews, demonstrations, projects, tutorials, book reviews and much, much more about this often neglected fine art medium. It's so cheap to start you could get student supplies on pocket change, yet so powerful that professional fine artists get thousands of dollars per painting. Check it out and tell your friends!

Ari purrs at you and sheds Cat Hairs of Inspiration! >^..^< (a purring smiley).

Remember that male cats are usually the friendly mellow ones.

Many changes...

I finally bought a new webcam. It's wonderful, it does double duty as a good still camera and I finally managed to get a decent photo of myself. So it's up now as a new avatar. I even smiled in it -- this is very rare for me.

I'm usually dead pan nonsmiling blinking like a cat and purring. Friendly, but not really given to smiling a lot. This time the wreckage that's rooted in my gums making me look like a British actor with a bad dentist isn't visible, so this photo makes it through my self-co… Continue

Yayy got it listed!

Now you can get a look at my new listing -- http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12618461 is the link for "ACEO Gray Wolf, Five MInute Art."

I'm doing five minute sketches for sale, and most of them have already sold. They are priced much lower than the works that take a long time to finish in polished mediums like colored pencils painting but often come out as powerful artworks in their own right

Oh DUH!

+ New Blog Post is on the front page. Me dummy.

Anyway, I should also sort through my album of unsold cards and put some new listings on Etsy, since I am starting to accumulate a fair number of them. There's a gorgeous wolf that I did and listed on eBay twice, yet it didn't get buyers when a lot of other nature drawings did. I don't get it. I know people love wolves. Well, we'll see who wants wolfie on Etsy, that one definitely needs listing first!

Aha, getting used to new software...

I went through Manage Blog to get to the screen where I saw a little + Add New Post button, and managed to fumble my way to it in only two clicks. So that's a happy thing. I'm not real good with new software. It's probably my age. My daughter lives with changing software and learns it much faster than I do. My grandkids will have computers as little kids, grade school ageish, and probably wind up writing their own software as easily as I learned to draw.

I've been

A new blog... oh boy...

I spend a lot of time blogging at http://robertsloan2.livejournal.com anyway, so starting another blog is going to be a trip and a half. Hello, all my new readers. I was born to blather and my fingers race across the keys at approximately 110 words per minute, much faster than I could speak or write longhand.

This occasionally results in run-on sentences when I get excited. I still only punctuate when I breathe. Imagine me speaking

Oh wow! Loretta, that is so gorgeous! Both birds are amazing! I love the details on them, and the pose on the egret is so graceful and unusual -- totally natural and not the obvious classic one. Wonderful painting! Sea turtles are cool too, but the birds are what really gets to me.

Robert,
Thank you so much for your comments. You answered my questions and I feel as though I actually learned something worthwhile today.

We seem to have a lot in common and smiling certainly takes the edge off. I support myself with SS and what I can sell online too...nothing about that makes me smile, though LOL!!!

I love your work, especially your work with words...keep writing.

You sure have this ....sites, links AND artt down pat!!!
I don't know where to starrt looking at all your sites...LOL
I did take a min. to look at your gallery [I think} and saw Ari...How beautiful he is!!!
I also saw [the few that I had time to see, leaving for that 2 day painting seminar]how inexpensive your prices are??? $14.00 for a piece of art work??
How do you do it??
At those prices I can't imagine how you could keep up with all the painting?
