Still walking...

seawall at Burnham on Sea

Today I caught the bus to go visit my friend Tish (and her children) where I was treated to home made pizza and a carefully planned walk along the seafront. The walk would've lasted longer I think if it hadn't been for the high number of strange flying creatures that were bothering us- so we cut things short and went to our favourite ice cream parlour and spoilt ourselves with ice cream and waffles.

I've been in a particularly 'noticing things' frame of mind this week and today I noticed this strange carving, the smell of honeysuckle as I walked down my street, the swallows gathering on the wires ready to fly home and how high the tide was when I got back home again.

Mikes International Walking Team

I've been keeping up with the walking pretty well, thanks to prods from various friends. Today I timed my walk to co-incide with the Red Arrows display that was taking place over the sea front:

(How great would this photo have been if i'd just taken it a split second later!)

The sky was really cloudy, but the sea front was filled with people- lots of them wrapped up extra warm despite it being August. I was particularly charmed to see these children jumping on the carefully laid out sandcastles, that had spelt out 'We love you Red 2' (a message to one of the pilots I presume) At least they waited until the display was over.

I promise this blog isn't going always be about Old School at Uppercase

It seems like my every post these days is about the Old School show at Uppercase, but I just had to show you what arrived in the post today:

old school book and goodies

my pages in the book

Old School book arrives!

The book is available from the Old School shop where you can also lay your hands on my piece of work.

Old School at Uppercase

The exhibition at Old School opened yesterday and there's some fabulous photos over on Flickr and over in the Uppercase shop there are many amazing things:

To purchase any artwork (including my piece for a mere $120) head over to the shop.

Treasures from under the pier

treasures from the burnt pier

I went for a walk along the beach last week and found these treasures under the burnt down pier. My favourites are the paper tokens, which my friend Hannah found and gave to me as she knew my need was greater than hers! I find it hard to believe that two weeks after the fire these fragile paper tickets are still washing up on the beach. The other things in the photo include some molten metal, a bit of a leather belt, a chip fork, some twisted metal, lumps of charcoal and two screws from the pier.

New shop from Made by Milla

I've been thinking about opening a second shop up for my art for a while now, and have just gone ahead and done it. CamillaStacey.etsy.com opened on Saturday and will be where I show my ceramic and plaster sculptures, as well as my textile art and drawings.

I was worried that if I added these pieces to my Made by Milla shop they might get a little lost amongst the badges and doll faces, I certainly like the way CamillaStacey is looking at the…

Thinking about reproducing

I've been thinking about making digital prints of some of my work, i've never done this before and I guess i'm a little nervous about taking that leap. I see a lot of work on Etsy that sells really well, but i'm wondering if my work is the sort of thing people would go for. I get a really good response when people see my large scale dr…

Paying the mortgage

Well...i'm a long way off from being able to pay the entire mortgage using funds from my etsy shop, but this month I seem to have done better than at any other point in the whole three years i've been on etsy and will be able to pay the shortfall in my mortgage that has added up over the last year. Imagine what it must be like to be able to pay all your rent, or mortgage with etsy money!
