I call my shop Cinderella Moments because I love to make something out of nothing. I make miniature houses out of cardboard boxes, trinkets out of paper pulp, and I love turning old worn out furniture back to their former glory!
All my cottage houses are entirely handmade. From the individually tiled roofs right down to the flowers and their pots! I get my inspiration from real houses in magazines, mostly. My favorites include Architectural Digest, Southern Living, Country Home, and Traditional home. Sometimes I’ll get my ideas just driving down a street. I start with plain cardboard and add the many details to each house. I have no patterns, so each cottage comes out with it’s own character. No two are ever alike.
To take a break from the tedious detailed work of the houses, I love to make Victorian style trinket boxes. They are sheer fun to make! These too are entirely handmade. I start with cardstock and build them up with pretty papers and trimmings. I then add a figure which I’ve made out of paper pulp covered with plaster. And Voila!
The wall panels are very large. These panels are MDF. I love to make them as pairs because it makes an imposing and impressive statement in a room. These types of panels are very common in large French homes. They have faux borders framing an elegant design. The ideas for these come from just about anywhere. Sometimes I’ll thumb through a magazine and see a couple of colors together, and it sparks an idea. I just make sure I always have a pencil and paper with me to sketch my ideas!
I hope you enjoy Cinderella Moments! Feel free to contact me with any comments or questions. I’d love to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by!
