About Me:
Hello everybody! I love to create new things all the time. I have a special passion for paper, but I also enjoy working with acrylics, mixed media and collage. I am self taught and always inspired.

I am married with 3 cool kids, and when I'm not working in the studio I'm usually doing the 'Mommy' thing.

Playing Around With Ribbons

I've been adding new cards to my Etsy store this week and playing around with some ribbons while I've been at it. Ribbons always manage to add that extra 'umph' to a card. This one sends birthday wishes and would be great for any age.

I like the color and the finishing touch that the ribbon adds to it.

Thinking About Leaf Prints As The Season Changes

With fall just around the corner I can't help but think off all the fun things to do with leaves. I always get a kick out of making leaf prints and then using them for cards -- this is also a neat activity to do with kids. All you need are leaves that have fallen from the trees, some acrylic paint (washable paint if you're working with the kids), and paper.

Once you've found a leaf that you want to use to make your print, just paint the front of it and then press it down on your paper. The amount of paint that you use will determine how detailed your print will be -- play around with it until you find the look that you want. When I did this one I decided to use green and yellow paint on my leaf, and then I did a watercolor wash over it when it was dry.

New Card - Handmade Paper,Raffia, and Pop Up Stickers

I've been working on some new cards to put in my Etsy store since it seems as though I've neglected new inventory for a while. This is one of the new cards I've added. I just had some fun playing around with scrap handmade paper, raffia, and some pop up stickers.

Using Paper Scraps To Make Christmas Trees For Your Cards

Since I'm really big on utilizing paper scraps, I thought I'd mention using them for simple Christmas trees for cards (I know... we're still in August, but sometimes you really do have to start working on Christmas cards early).
Dig through your scrap pile and find a piece of paper that you like, cut 3 triangles and place one on top of the other to create your tree. Cut a rectangle from another piece of scrap to create your base, set it in place and you're done.

It's hard keeping up with these posts

Sometmes I forget to post on this blog. I get caught up poking around and checking out all the cool Etsy stores that I forget to post.

Anyway, still trying to keep busy. I've been working on some cards for the Etsy store, and trying to fill a coulple large orders. I've even been writing a couple of articles for Associated Content. One is a basic h

Volunteering to make cards for children with life theatening illnesses

I've found a great way to volunteer while making cards at the same time. Keiki Cards http://www.keikicards.org/ is a nonprofit group based in Hawaii that sends out handmade cards every week to children with life threatening illnesses. Being a volunteer is easy. All you have to do is make the cards and send them in, Keiki Cards handles all the rest. If you have the time, and some extra cards you should consider sending in a few. I'm planning to send car…

Making Cards

I've been working on cards and a few mixed media and acrylic pieces for the Etsy store(www.calabashcreations.etsy.com) and an upcoming craft fair. I like this set of cards a lot. I like the color combinations and the cute brad tags with their simple flair. I'll be busy working on a few more sets this week. I can't wait to get busy with the pile of papers that I just got!

Keeping Busy

I've been keeping busy working on adding some new cards to the Etsy store and getting stuff together for a few local shows. Take a peek at a cute set of button note cards that I just listed.

I really like these, and now I'm actually going to make a set for myself!

Keeping up with posts

I am really going to have to do a better job of keeping up with these post, but between 2 other blogs, my Etsy store, and just plain old life, it's going to be a bit of a challenge sometimes. The good news is that I did manage to add a few more listings on Etsy(www.calabashcreations.etsy.com). Take a peek at a set of blank note cards and hang tags:
