About Me:
Hi and welcome to the mountains of North Carolina.

I am new to ETSY, but not new to selling. I started selling odds and ends on Ebay over 8 years ago. Two years ago, I started my own business selling products for Special Needs Individuals. These are products I made for my own son, who has Autism.

I make many communication items, workbooks, social stories, reward charts, schedules and games that are professional, functional and interactive. My main focus is assisting children, teens and adults through communication products.

Not only am I parent of a teen with a disability, I am currently an Assistant Basic Education Teacher and a former Habilitation Technician. Both professions are working with adults with disabilities.

It is very rewarding to take what I have learned with my son and helping others.

I have gotten the crafting bug in the past year. I learned to make jewelry from reading and asking friends. I have been branching out to making other jewelry related items. This year I will learn to make beeswax candles, and growing herbs. I learn everything through reading never taking a class.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
Hopefully, I will have an opportunity to get to know you as well.

COMMUNICATING WITH YOUR NON VERBAL CHILD

I reflect back when Landon had lost his ability to communicate. At the age of 2, getting him to say and remember anything was like pulling teeth. He was immediately placed in Early Intervention not knowing yet what was causing speech and other delays. Shortly after, he was receiving Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapy. I spent that year learning from all the therapist how to communicate with my son. What ever they did during the sessions, I would reinforce at home. I was bound determin…

Thanks for adding me. What a great story you have about your son and providing others with the items you make for your son.

Good luck with your new shop on etsy.
