A ruby red ale

The St Peter's kit was chosen for it's hopefully great flavour, I've had a few of the St Peter's ales before you can often find them in supermarkets. Also the ruby red colour will also look quite festive if we get it!Read the rest - http://www.littlewrenpottery.co.uk/2012/11/st-peters-ruby-red-ale/See More

A leafy yarn bowl

The curl for the yarn is the same as the little star yarn bowls but instead here with the leaf it looks more like the arc of a branch. You can also really see the difference between the natural clay colour and the vanilla glaze that's been used over the top.Read the rest - http://www.littlewrenpottery.co.uk/2012/10/an-autumnal-yarn-bowl/See More

Brownie pumpkin cheesecake

It seems winter is right around the corner and yet I still love good autumn days when its not to chill and you get beautiful evening sunsets and soft golden light. I think I've always been a little in love with autumn and I often think my glaze choices reflect that.Read the rest - http://www.littlewrenpottery.co.uk/2012/10/pumpkin-brownie-cheesecake/See More

Custom yarn bowls

I add names to the outside of the bowls by hand, each one is lettered with a paintbrush. I always try to get a calligraphic look to the lettering which is easiest to do with a flat edged brush.Read the rest - http://www.littlewrenpottery.co.uk/2012/10/a-few-custom-order-yarn-bowls/See More

coloured slipware

Due to their simplicity they're usually more predictable in the firing process and more stable than glazes which you need a recipe to concoct. To seal a pot with coloured slip on it all you need is a transparent glaze which is a basic glaze with no colouring in it to reveal the slip underneath.Read the rest - http://www.littlewrenpottery.co.uk/2012/10/working-with-coloured-slips/See More

home made bird feeders

I always make fat balls for the birds during the colder months. To make them you'll need some bird seed, and some sort of dense fat - I usually use Trex, a vegetable fat but any sort of lard will also work well.Read the rest - http://www.littlewrenpottery.co.uk/2012/10/for-the-birds/See More

Lamp working glass

Lamp worked beads are thought to originate form the 14th century and became a popular technique throughout Europe. Modern lamp workers use gas torches which have air blown through them as an oxidiser in the process. The burning flame used to heat the glass to a molten state is so bright it's difficult to look at! A potters tools

For centuries potters have used tools to shape the earth itself; from the wheel to sponges and ribs there’s something deeply intimate about our relationship with pottery tools. Their curving shapes assist the daily commune between potter and clay.Read the rest - http://www.littlewrenpottery.co.uk/2012/09/have-you-named-your-tool/See More

Homemade pancakes

But this is all about those sweet pillowy pancakes, the reason why I love American pancakes is because the pancake itself is the event rather than the filling. In this recipe adding bananas creates an extra flavour, it works best with fruit that's gone a bit brown so they're more flavourful. Rowan's Dalesman

I don't have those opinions about charted patterns these days. I often find that charts contain complex patterns which have intricate and beautiful designs unsuitable for line by line instructions. However I've been disappointed in the chart for Moorhouse, I've actually knit the first inch of pattern three times and in the end decided to modify it.Read the rest -…See More

Custom order items

Yarn bowls are always popular and recently I've been doing quite a few named pieces, its lovely that so many of these go off as gifts - I sometimes wonder about the people they're for and what their stories are. Names add such a direct connection to another person!Read the rest - http://www.littlewrenpottery.co.uk/2012/08/custom-pottery-work-in-progress/See More

A studio break

So unfortunately if your order isn't in now I won't be able to get it to you before the end of the month. This will also affect orders during the first two weeks of September, but I will be creating additional stock before the break period. I'd advise that custom item orders won't start shipping again until the week commencing the 24th of September at the earliest.Read the rest -…See More
