About Me:

I'm a freelance commercial artist named Jennifer Lambein.

You could say I come by it naturally, as many of my family members, have artistic ability. (My mother is convinced our family ancestors were responsible for the cave paintings in Lascaux.) And like most artists, I can't remember a time when I wasn't creating. I was the little elementary school girl who thought ‘tracing‘ was cheating, and who drew cartoons like ‘Garfield’ by hand (mimicked masterpieces, I'm sure.).

My mom is a cross-stitch designer for Leisure Arts; my dad plays a myriad of musical instruments and dabbles as a writer. Creativity housed my upbringing. I was lucky enough to have parents who supported my less rational career path. Unfortunately, the mantra of most artists is: "I totally wanted to be an artist, but my parents insisted I get a real job.”. Well kids, that unreal job is mine. So, thanks Mom and Dad! To quote Ricky Nelson, "ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself."

I grew up in Naples, Fl, the land of snow white beaches and winter sun. As a grownup I lived in Cleveland, Ohio for several years, the land of minute to minute weather extremes. I now find myself living and working out of a small studio apartment in Manhattan. That's what inspired the name "Studio Petite". (A big imagination in a tiny space.) It's through NYC’s rich diversity and creative vibe that I digest new inspiration daily. Other sources of inspiration: people, a song, a movie, a book, a show (concerts, television, Broadway), fabric, nature…life in general. I never know where my creative juices will lead me. But, that's the beautiful surprise of it all.

I work in all mediums, but my favorites include: watercolor, acrylic, marker, pen and ink, graphite, and colored pencil. I also adore pretty paper for collage. I’ve designed for the card, cross-stitch, fabric, and giftware industries, as well as for clothing and logo illustration. My goal is to pass on the joy, inspiration, and positive thoughts I find every day through artistic expression.
