You know, I am not entirely certain how I got directed at looking at how to make soap...it's just one of those "wonder how this is done" sort of things for me....I gotta tell ya though, it looks like a darned lot of work! I don't know that I'll ever give it a go, considering there are artists out there like you who do such a good job of it already...but if I do, or if I'm just more curious about the steps, I will most definitely let you know! By the way, I checked out CraftCult, your photo there is just great, I think it's a WONDERFUL way to showcase how pretty your soaps are!

Michelle...Just wanted to check in and tell you that, over the past few days I've been really reading up on making soaps and various soap blogs...I so have got to say, as much as I appreciated your artistry in the soaps you create before I started reading those things, I am absolutely AMAZED at it now! You are one very talented lady! And, thanks for the info about CraftCult...I'm checking it out now!

Thanks so much! My pup's name is Jacques, and he's the love of my life (and my coworker, therapist, sample king, shop keeper and jester)

Aww...look at you reading my blog Michelle! That whole "real world" job thing really does just sap it right out of me...I am trying to figure out the whole balance thing...but it does feel REALLY great (I mean really, really great), when I get glimpses of that creative feeling again. I just need to do much more to foster it I think.

I hit my second "real" sale, the first being a PIF, I don't really count it...it is very, very slow, although I notice that the looks are increasing. Hopefully, it will pick up for all of us, but who knows? How's things in your neck of the woods? (BTW, I got a couple of comments on my blog about how gorgeous your soaps are...I have to agree with them!)

Hey Michelle....I just thought of something...for those of us who are not lucky enough to be able to visit a craft show where you have your soaps, have you considered selling "trial size" lots? I know it would be more work to make smaller versions, but it would be a great way to let people sample scents, try out the soap, etc., etc. Just an idea, might be something to consider!

ByHand.Me - Just Learning About This Site

I visited and registered www.byhand.me today and created a spotlight - which is similar to an Etsy treasury but you don't have to fight to get one.

I was going to put one of J Crawford's rainbow-wrapped hairsticks on there but she's sold out so I featured one of her shrines. Pretty, bright stuff!

I'm still learni… Continue

Chat on Etsy - What's FS 5 Min?

If you're like me, you've probably visited the chat rooms a couple times. If you have, you have invariably noticed the "FS 5 Min" room and wondered...what the heck is that?

The FS 5 Min room functions as a game basically - for sales.

Participants and the FS (featured seller) take turns promoting a shop. The featured seller is "it" for 5 Minutes - everyone else will post pics of that person's items and promote the items by chat. At the end of 5 minutes, ideally the FS will have had a sale (comp… Continue

Etsy Tools - Did you know about....

Some of these Etsy tool websites I've known about for a while but the latest one I found out about is CraftCult and I love it!

CraftCult can really help you as a seller - it's the best website I've found with multiple tools in one spot.

You can:
* see how many hearts your shop has
* see how many hearts each individual item has and how many times it's been viewed (it even breaks it down into ratios for you)
* check if you are currently in a… Continue

CraftGawker - What's that?

I just heard about CraftGawker.com last week. Basically, you can submit your craft photos for submission - if accepted you're item will be posted under the appropriate category. I am not sure how this site has resulted in views/hearts for others but you never know.

I submitted a pic last week and it was accepted, no problem. (Yay!) But, I have heard that they can be stringent and it can get frustrating for some. So,… Continue

Finally....a free website host I like!

I've been working on having a stable Dreamtime Harvest website that I can have more information on that Etsy doesn't have the pages for. Kind of a jumping point from real-life to Etsy. (Visit it at www.dreamtimeharvest.com - it's a work in progress.)

For any crafters who want a cheap website that is editable and attractive without adds (except the one line at the bottom) check out www.weebly.com

If anyone joins up and starts building a website please feel free to share your link!
