There is more to burning a candle than just lighting the wick. First you want to be sure that you place a candle in an area away from flamable materials and especially children. Next, be sure to place your candle on a proper surfice. For instance, you should always use a votive holder for votive candles not just place it on the table. Keep you wick trim. Typicaly the wick should be trimed to about 1/4 of an inch. Never, ever leave a burning candle unattended.
