I am a Tennessee native who drifted ashore in Tidewater VA on a blue moon high tide. I am a former high school English and Drama teacher (now a proud stay-home-mama) with a Masters degree from the College of William and Mary. I coached drama and forensics, and have been in a number of community theater productions with the Court House Players. I enjoy singing, sailing with my family, and trips to the ocean. I love the sea, and sea themes often make their way into my work.
After missing the 4:15 bus out of Phoebus, I found myself walking through several antique stores, thus discovering another passion--mixed media art. My love of the written word and a desire to rekindle the beautiful lost art of letter writing prompted me to begin making my handmade cards and other mixed media and collage works of art.
I have painted children's murals, using acrylics, but primarily enjoy using mixed media, altered art, and collage. I love to combine vintage imagery and ephemera with unique modern sentiments. I love the creative outlet that my work provides, not to mention a newfound flexibility in my schedule and more time to spend with my amazing and inspiring children.
"Real mail" makes my spirits soar...and paint...and glitter...and flowers...and ink...and pretty paper...and the sea...and ribbon...and pictures...and mermaids..and stamps...and boxes...and bottles...and well, you get the idea...
