is sooooo much fun!

It is official.  I am addicted to Facebook!

Never really got the point of Twitter, but I am loving Facebook.  I have found so many of my "lost" friends and it is so cool!

Can you tell that I am excited?!?  I just reconnected with the third (and final) part of my best friend group from the "big city" and it is great.  So maybe I will skip the class reunion up here and and travel back home for a long awaited reunion...who knows?

Preparations

This weekend is MusicFest in Fremont and I am currently elbow deep in lotion.  Well, not right this minute but there is a ton of it downstairs getting thick enough for me to fill the bottles!

I have spent the bulk of the day getting some products ready, cleaning my house (this is a never-ending job as any stay-at-home mother knows!) and trying to uphold some level of sanity around here.

I made two batches of soap today...more Peppermint Perfection (best seller) and some Lemongrass-Sage.  I made three batches of Cotton Blossom-type lotion, two batches of Lily Of The Valley lotion and two batches of Butterfly Orchid lotion.

I swept and mopped the kitchen, did some tidying up and reorganizing in the kitchen.  I did two loads of laundry and taught the little princess how to hang up her own clothes (she is such a good little helper!).  We ended up with enough pizza left over from last night...so I didn't have to cook dinner tonight!

Now to go finish filling those lotion bottles and get to bed...I have to start all over tomorrow!

Defense

The best defense is a good offense!

We went through the book of Psalm not that long ago in our Wednesday night Bible study.  This is one of those verses that we should remember at all times...but especially when we are feeling the need to defend ourselves against some attack.

See there is one thing that I have noticed when dealing with people.  Anytime I try to defend myself to someone else...they take it as an offense to them.  I can not explain why I do not participate in an activity that they do without offending them.  They think that I think that I am better than them...which of course I do not...but they are instantly put on the defensive then and the fight is on.

So I am better off to step back from the situation and say you know what...they can think, act or feel whatever they want to because eventually the Lord will defend me and his defense is complete.

Look upon my suffering and deliver me,
for I have not forgotten your law.
Defend my cause and redeem me;
preserve my life according to your promise.
Salvation is far from the wicked,
for they do not seek out your decrees.
Psalm 119:153-155

Menu Plan Monday - 7-5-09

This week I will be utilizing the supplies that I already have on-hand...YEAH no shopping!  I am going to try to keep meals simple this week...so here goes!

Monday - Homemade pizza, homemade bread sticks and salad (fresh from the garden!)

Tuesday - Chicken salad sandwiches (homemade bread), fresh veggies

Wednesday - Spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad

Thursday - Roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, peas and bread

Friday - leftovers (be at the festival!)

Breakfasts will be simple...cereal, pancakes and waffles.  Lunches will be leftovers and peanut butter sandwiches.  Desserts will be varied throughout the week and will include things that I want to make for farmers' market!  I will post about them throughout the week...if they are good that is!

Check out some more menus at The Organized Junkie!

Great Discoveries

I guess that the term great is entirely subjective depending upon who you are talking to and what you are talking about.  Today I rediscovered a wonderful adventure while strolling around holding my six-year old daughter's hand.

It started when my husband discovered a "new" black raspberry bush.  All four of us had to go out and pick the paltry harvest (a total of about 10 berries) for a quick snack that my husband and daughter enjoyed immensely.  Since my son and I are not quite as enthusiastic about the seeds that come with the tasty berries...there wasn't a struggle over the berries.

What followed that was so simple and sweet that it can only be called great.  I took my daughter to make a great discovery.  See she is a bit of a drama queen...she gets highly upset when people pick at her...but then she shows great enthusiasm over some of the smallest things.  The latter was the case with her today.

I grabbed her hand and told her we were going to see something that I recently "discovered"...a mulberry tree that we had never picked off of before.  She didn't know what we would find, but she was so excited.  Jumping and skipping the entire way.  Then we drew nearer to the discovery...she thought it must be another black raspberry bush...so she was looking down at the ground.  Then she looked up and her eyes got as big as saucers.  She yelled out "more berries!".  So I grabbed as many of the ripe ones as I could for her and she went to show her favorite people the "great discovery" of the day.

This whole thing took about 20 minutes...on a day when I am normally scrambling to get work done for the following day's market...and it was absolutely wonderful!  My daughter's great discovery was a handful of mulberries...while mine was an amazing stroll with a pretty incredible little person.  We all need a reminder to take the time to enjoy our little ones while they are still little.  I am so glad that my husband interrupted my terribly important schedule today so that I could enjoy this!

About Me:
I am just getting into my Etsy shop right now. I joined this summer, but hadn't really gotten around to sprucing it up or anything. I make soy candles and natural bath products, including cold process vegan soap.

We are a homeschooling family with two children, ds (7) and dd (5). We have all kinds of different allergies running rampant throughout our family...which led to my home business.

I am really looking forward to getting to know more about Etsy and meet many of you.

Getting ready for the Christmas Rush!

Hey ladies! How are you handling this season's busy-ness? I have been to three craft shows already, had to cancel one for this weekend due to illness and have two more scheduled for the following two weekends.

I was able to get some new products listed and I hope that you all will enjoy them as much as we do!

I have many things left to do and am still fighting this bronchitis...so this will be a quick post to see how things are going out there!

Just checking in here

I have been crazy busy with all of these craft shows that I am in this season! SO I haven't had a chance to stop in until now. My first two shows are done and that leaves four more for me this year!

The first one was a bit of a disappointment, but I stuck it through and went to a "proven one" the next week and did outrageously well! I just about doubled my last year's show and that was awesome...as I had to pay property taxes this week...it was kind of essential too!

So this week will be spent… Continue

New Items posted

Hey everyone!

I just thought I would drop in here to tell you that I just listed some clearance candles on my Etsy. These are clearanced because the jars have been discontinued and I need to clear them out to make room for my new jars. The new ones will be posted later today as well.

Thanks,

Christy

Hello!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Christy and I make soy candles and natural bath products, including cold process vegan soap. That sounds kind of AA-ish and for a good reason...when you make soap you do tend to become addicted to making soap!

I have two munchkins here at home that I homeschool along with my wonderful husband of 11 years. We are a Christian family and love to spend our free time (yeah there's a lot of that around here) loafing around together.

I have another… Continue

For some reason...it is not allowing me to approve any more friend requests?!? Anyone know why?

If you have sent me a friend request and I have not accepted yet that is why.

Thanks!
