New Works

Hi Mari......I wish we had thrift stores like you have. That's a fantastic buy. The bracelet you described sounds really nice and I'm looking forward to seeing your masterpiece.....lol! I'm sure it'll be lovely. I've been wracking my brain trying to work out a way to use buttons in a necklace. I thought of wirework but the wire would go over the lovely flower design on the button and ruin the look so I'm still stumped. I think I'd better do some research too. Looking forward to seeing your work. I'll definately keep in touch. Take care.

Dear Fiona:
I am just getting into incorporating buttons into my jewelry. I have been taking books out of the library and also "crusing" the web to see hopw others are doing it. I saw one lovely bracelet that had tons of beads and buttons sewn onto a wide comfy elastic. I beklieve the elastic is like the one you would sew into a pant? I bought a jar . 3/4 of a gallon full! for six dollars in a thrift store the other day. It is loaded with goegeous vintage beads. My first masterpiece I create I will send you a picture :0
Take care and keep in touch .
Ciao,
Mari

Not yet Mari but got some modern Vintage-Style cameo portrait buttons and I would like some ideas on how to use them.

Has anyone ever used vintage buttons w/ their jewelry creations?

Nice to meet you too. I had a peek in Chatnoir77 and love the ladies wirework and cat beads. I'll bookmark this site for future purchases. Thanks for the info. Speak soon :)

If you like kitties (I adore them myself) I found this artist on Etsy who makes lots of cats, the shop is called CHATNOIR77 and it's worth checking out. Fiona, I so hear you about keeping them for yourself!! I have more jewelry than....well an embarrassing amount of it...we'll leave it at that!
I have used clay, however to make runes, not beads, perhaps someone else has more experience here? Looking around......
I usually buy them!! Nice to meet you Fiona!

Sorry MetalRocks, meant to comment on how lucky you were with your tumbled rock find, they sound really nice, have fun with them! I'm just a newbie with beads so probably will have lots of questions for everyone.

I found 2 cute little lampwork cat beads in a new bead shop that's opened up in Glasgow near where I live. I'm planning on making them into earrings. I'm a big cat fan anyway so am thinking I'll just keep them for myself......lol! Got some polymer clay too so am gonna make some little novelty beads with that. Never used clay before, has anyone else?

I found a whole stash of tumbled rock at the school bazaar I was helping to set up today! Some totally cool pyrite, amethyst, rose quartz and lots more. I'm just sorting it by sizes and during that process hope to see if any of them strikes my creative fancy! :-) What fun! I just completed my last market for this Xmas season yesterday, so I've been out of the Etsy loop. I must take more pics...like yesterday! Anyone else have any finds?
