I've lived in L.A. for over four years but hadn't gone to the downtown Fabric District until two days ago. It like like a near-death experience. All my favorite fabrics were there - the minkies, the two-tones, the zebra, the long pile, I made quite a fool of myself groaning in the isles, and drooling over all the dirt cheap fake furs to make my plush stuffed animals with. Unfortunately, I had to come home. I'm glad to find a group who shares my same fascination :)

I live south of Boston and it is a desolate, fabric wasteland. We have a Joann, and that's really it. No really good fabric there. I think there might be something in Boston, so I may have to venture in. Love the minkies!

Loved your story. My hubby hates to go with me to the fabric stores because I can stay there for hours just looking and designing in my mind. The way I get him to go with me is to agree that we will only be there for him to pick fabrics for my Neckties and to make him a necktie in the fabric of his choice.

Wow that sounds fabulous! Can anyone go to the Fabric District? I am from the Chicago area and do not know of anything like that!
