Like at least one other poster we have seen very little activity in our Etsy store. Oh we've been hearted, had plenty of looks but the sales are just not there.
So for October we are offering free shipping; perhaps this will stimulate some sales and recognize that our economy sure has taken a nosedive.
Our shop is magpiedreams, hand made jewelry made by my wife Barbara and located in Wisconsin.
Question: What are some other techniques/tactics Etsians have taken to stimulate their sales? I sense that our economy, etc. are affecting many of us this year so how do we respond to customers having less money for the extras so many of us would provide?
Hello magpiedreams! I too have been having a very slow start to the month. I thought I had a good momentum going when bam. Perhaps too much bad news on the TV. In any case I am running a "Heart my shop and get free shipping until 10/15" promotion! Good luck to you!
That is a good idea too. I did not know that buyers could also heart our shops. I have to have a talk with wife Barb on some of these approaches as we just simply are not getting sales either. She does not like to do sales but I think a sale price and the sale is better than items sitting in the store that do not sell!
I just wish the fear and worry over our economy were not at the level it is. I think the retail season for Christmas this year is going to really be off as more and more people also cut back on use of charge cards.
At least the jewelry makes nice gifts for all the females in a family....us guys kind of get the short end of the stick!
I am doing something similar. I am including a polishing cloth free through November. For every $20 they purchase, I will include a cloth. I try to mention in the description that this is a great additional touch or stocking stuffer, or they can keep this little extra for themselves! You can see my store and this promotion at:
Sounds like a great idea. I think that we do need to discount our items, do some free shipping, etc. The jobs and economic news around here is just horrible and I suspect the Christmas buying season will be down as well.
Thanks for taking time to reply and good luck, Ken
